When are friends not really friends? Perhaps on Facebook, the Fifth District of Texas Court of Appeals recently ruled, in a matter involving a judge’s social media contacts and perceived biases. The appeal was brought by William Scott Youkers, who pleaded guilty to assaulting his girlfriend and late...
May 18, 2013 at 12:48 am #Medicalmalpractice #healthcare #lawsuits #medical error #tortreform - Great article discussing how medical malpractice lawsuits can actually help improve patient care. The information was learned from interviews with hospital risk managers. We need to get to a point when we realize we all want the same goal, safer, affordable healthcare! Right now, "[e]ach year tens of thousands of people die, and hundreds of thousands more are injured, as a result of medical error." This needs to change and the courthouse doors need to be open to those who are harmed by medical errors!

Shameful! The Seventh Amendment is supposed to protect this right to a trial by jury! Legislators have no right to take it away!
When a surgeon operated on the wrong side of a Missouri woman’s skull, her only recourse was the court system. So why are Missouri lawmakers trying to take away that right? http://bit.ly/132A8Fx

Clearly claims are not keeping rates high for doctor's insurance! We need a change in the law in California!
Think medical malpractice insurance rates are too high? You are not alone. While companies take premiums from doctors & hospitals, they don’t have to pay much out in claims due to CA’s outdated cap on malpractice awards. http://buswk.co/12dnwuh

May 14, 2013 at 4:23 pm Interesting position and recommendation by the NTSB today: "At .05 BAC, the risk of having an accident increases by 39 percent. At .08 BAC, the risk of having an accident increases by more than 100 percent."

A burn injury is among the most devastating types of injuries, and is oftentimes caused by the incompetence and negligence of someone else. At The Haggai Law Firm, serving Los Angeles and the surrounding area, we are experienced in personal injury law, including burns and it is our job to preserve the rights of burn victims and seek out compensation for their injuries and other damages.
Burns can be quite heinous personal injuries, and they can leave the victim with horrible, lifelong medical problems, scar tissue, and disfigurement. Burns can take years to heal. Recovering from a burn oftentimes requires expensive and painful medical procedures, like skin grafts, in order for the burn victim to realize some sense of normalcy again. The cost of treating a burn injury can easily run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. No matter the cost, treatment does not always restore the victim to their pre-injured state, as burns can cause severe neurological and nerve damage that cannot be reversed. If a burn is serious enough, it can be fatal. In these instances, the burn victim’s family is entitled to compensation.
Burn injury victims in Los Angeles need the help of the experienced lawyers at The Haggai Law Firm. We have won millions of dollars in compensation for our clients over the years, and we stand ready to fight for you or your loved one.
As soon as possible following the injury, it is important that the burn victim or their family contact a lawyer who is experienced in personal injury law. Victims must understand their legal entitlements and options that are available to them. The Haggai Law Firm can help root out the responsible party, whether a victim was burned at home, work, or elsewhere. We can help burn victims file a claim for compensation from the at-fault party, whether that means going up against an individual, business, or even a big corporation. We will fight to negotiate a monetary settlement for the burn injury victim that will cover the victim’s expenses, including:
