    http://www.tampabay.com

TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Supreme Court on Thursday rejected the centerpiece of the 2003 medical malpractice overhaul, blasting the Legislature for creating an "alleged medical malpractice crisis" and concluding, in a 5-2 ruling, that a cap on wrongful death noneconomic damages violates the U.S. and...

Most doctors are good wonderful human beings who help and don't hurt. However, if you harm someone, you should be responsible for the full measure of the harm you cause. The $250 cap was put into place more than 38 years ago. Let's raise it to reflect the rate of inflation. Let's also say asking doctors to pee in a cup is not a bad thing! Good docs should not be afraid of this change!

"Trial lawyers and consumer groups are pushing a measure that would raise the cap on pain and suffering damages in medical malpractices cases from $250,000 to approximately $1.1 million. It would also require doctors to be drug tested and to check a statewide database when prescribing certain medications to clamp down on prescription drug abuse."

It is time for a change! Sometimes $250,000 for pain and suffering damages is not enough in light of the damage. Take a minute and watch this sort video - a story from a medical malpractice victim. Thanks!

Spinal Chord Injury Lawyers Los AngelesRecovering Monetary Damages for a Spine Injury

Have you been involved in an automobile accident and sustained a back injury? Were you injured on the job while working in an industrial or construction job? Perhaps no injury is as life-altering and serious as a back injury, and if you have suffered the trauma of this type of injury, you have rights.

    Devastating Personal Injury

Each year in the United States, there are around 10,000 new reports of spinal cord injuries. Many of these injuries were preventable, and are the direct result of the actions of another person or company. When the actions of someone else cause injury to others, their actions are negligent. This negligence oftentimes results in injuries to the body that can cause paralysis, either partial or total. If the spinal cord injury involves the cervical section of the spine, quadriplegia can result, and the victim is left without the use of arms or legs. Paraplegia is also an outcome of spinal cord injury, and causes the lower half of the body to become paralyzed, generally as a result of damage or trauma to the thoracic region of the spin. Paralysis, in these instances, is usually permanent.

    The Cost of Spinal Injuries

Back injuries and spinal cord injuries can negatively impact the injured person in many ways, and also have an impact on those who care for them. Most spinal cord injuries come with a huge price tag for medical bills, therapy, surgery, and other procedures that the injured spinal cord victim may require. A serious spinal cord injury can make it impossible for the victim to work, although he or she will still need money for their living expenses. The situation is often complicated even further by the need for loved ones to stop working so that they can care for the victim.

Recovering Damages from the At-Fault Party

Since a spinal cord injury is so devastating both physically, mentally, and financially, contacting a personal injury law firm right away following the accident is of the utmost importance. Haggai Law Firm can help the victim of spinal cord injury and their family to seek out the responsible party and file a claim for damages that can including monetary compensation for:

    • Medical bills. The cost of treating a spinal cord injury or back injury can easily run into the tens of thousands of dollars. The injured party should not have to pay for his own treatment. Your lawyer can seek out monetary damages for your medical bills, including the future cost of medical care.
    • Lost wages. The money that the injured person would be earning if they had not sustained the injury is commonly awarded to him without question. This includes any future lost wages due to partial or permanent disability, or diminished capacity to earn a living.
    • Pain and suffering. A large monetary award for pain and suffering is not unheard of in spinal cord cases. Your attorney will work hard for you to get you the largest award possible to help ease your loss.

Upon taking your spinal cord injury casein Los Angeles, Haggai Law Firm will start to work for you, collecting evidence and medical records, filing your claim, and if necessary, litigating on your behalf in a court of law until you receive just compensation to make you whole again.
